美國24個州的官員敦促總統當選人川普(Donald Trump)，廢止歐巴馬總統對抗氣候變遷以及關閉燃煤電廠策略的核心部分。

這些州級官員要求，即將上台的共和黨政府取消由目前民主黨政府制定的「潔淨電力計畫」(Clean Power Plan)。該法案的目標是到2030年時，將主要來自燃煤電廠的碳排放減少到低於2005年標準的32%。

最高法院已下令暫緩執行該案，直到釐清該規範的法律爭議為止。

這個以西維吉尼亞州檢察長莫瑞西(Patrick Morrisey)以及德州檢察長派克斯頓(Ken Paxton)為首的團體建議國會採取行動，防止環保署未來起草類似的規範。

根據莫瑞西表示，「(撤銷該案的)命令應說明，行政當局認為此案(潔淨電力計畫)違法，環保署也無權執行。必須以行政命令向各州以及受規範單位傳達立即且強烈的訊息，表明行政當局將不會執行該條例」。
